Greater Accra Basketball Women’s Playoffs tipped off Friday 8th November with regular season leaders taking on Reformers who place 4th on the league table.
As expected, this was a relatively easy game for CEPS who had beaten Reformers twice during the season. In the first round, Reformers managed only 25 points against CEPS. In the second round, Reformers scored 24 points. CEPS averaged 66.5 points against Reformers therefore it was no surprise that CEPs had a relatively easy game winning it 65 – 34.
CEPS thus await the winner of the Police and Fire Service match up which will be played on Saturday November 9th.
Police finished the regular season with a 12-2 record. Their only losses were to CEPS. Police beat Fire Service twice in the season and relatively easily too. The Fire Service team has to come with all guns blazing to beat Police. They will need to shoot a high percentage and reduce their turnovers.
Fire Service will be led by Carlien Adjei who in the regular season averaged 15 points per game and more than 4 steals a game.
Police on the other hand have Sadat Barikisu, Georgina and Mavis. All three are lethal scorers. Sadat averaged 21 points per game in the league, Georgina average 15 points and Mavis 14.
Barring any surprises therefore, we should see Police qualify to play the winner of CEPS versus Reformers in the best of three finals.
