The final game of the Greater Accra Basketball Division One league will be played this Saturday, 19th December between Braves of CEPS and Tema Youth. Tip Off will be at 4 pm.
Tema Youth earned this spot by beating Fire Service 60 – 54 on Wednesday 16th December at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra.
Both teams shot poorly from the field resulting in a relatively low score for a top 3 game. Fire Service were a miserable 25% from the field including hitting only 4 out of 32 three pointers attempted. In addition, they were out rebounded by Tema Youth despite having far less turnovers.
Simply, Fire Service lost the game to Tema Youth by failing to make shots. They were beaten on the boards as well which means they had relatively less second opportunities to make shots.
The Fire Service team had flashes of individual brilliance in the game. Musah J was almost unstoppable in the post and finished the game with 15 points. Okoe Laryea was brilliant with his outside shot from the left side if the court. He finished with a game high of 24 points. It is indeed a wonder that the Fire Service bench did not call more plays from specific portions on the court for them.
Tema Youth had scoring contribution from 9 of the 11 players that suited up for the game. Point guard Bansah led the team with 15 points hitting only 4 of 18 shots from the field. He did the rest of the damage from the free throw line.
Earlier this month, both Fire Service and Tema Youth lost to CEPS as part of the preliminary round of the Top 3 playoffs. Contrary to earlier reports by ghhoops.com that a winner will be crowned after the first round only, there will be a final game on Saturday between Braves of CEPS and Tema Youth.
